Using your emotions
The City of London Police do amazing work in the inner city schools working with teachers, parents and children on subjects such as road safety, internet safety, bullying and child abuse. Ollie and Ali were invited to join them, as it was recognised that giving the children, parents and teachers the facts was only half the battle. It did not cover the emotional response to the ‘what if’ question. Through Ollie, Ali worked with the police on one of the internet awareness training days. Ali delivered simple yet powerful advice and understanding on how to protect yourself emotionally should you find yourself a victim and how to avoid becoming a victim by protecting yourself emotionally.
The message ‘no one can make you think or feel anything you don’t allow yourself too’, was the driver for Ali’s part of the day. With Ollie’s help she worked with the children and staff to understand that statement and make it their mantra.
The day ended with Ali and Ollie being invited back to the police station to meet the amazing people that keep us safe. They also got to meet Lucy, the police horse. Its fair to say Lucy took a liking to Ollie – well his hair any way.
